Leeds Best Shot Photography Competition Terms & Conditions

  1. By entering the competition you are deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions
  2. In order to participate you must be a Leeds-based student in further education, aged 18+. You may be required to provide proof of your status as a student  
  3. You can submit no more than two photos into the competition
  4. All entrants must declare that the photographs are their own work and free of any copyright other than their own personal copyright. In submitting to the competition, you agree to grant UNITE Integrated Solutions plc (“UNITE”) a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty free licence to use your photos, name and photo description in promotional materials.  These materials may include printed or electronic publications, websites or other electronic communications
  5. All digital reproductions shall be the property of UNITE
  6. If you take pictures of other people, you are responsible for gaining their consent
  7. Pictures will not be accepted into the competition if they are deemed inappropriate. This includes images that may be offensive, previously published, copyrighted (by somebody other than the entrant) or otherwise contrary to the spirit of the competition
  8. If your photos are deemed inappropriate, they will not be considered by the judges and / or will be removed from the accepted pool of photos (Flickr.com group and submissions received via email)
  9. The Best Shot competition runs from 5 February 2010 to 19 February 2010
  10. Entries will be judged from 20-28 February 2010 and a shortlist of 10 entries will be announced on 1 March 2010
  11. Five finalists will be determined by a public vote combined with scores from the competition judges
  12. The judges’ decision will be final.  However, if finalists cannot provide high-res images suitable for print and exhibit, UNITE reserves the right to select another winner
  13. Finalists will be named and profiled on the website and Flickr page on 22 March 2010
  14. Cash prizes include a cheque for £500 for the overall winner and a cheque for £250 for each of the other four finalists.  Cheques will be sent to the winners by recorded deliver in March 2010 
  15. Finalists will have their work exhibited in The Faversham
  16. All finalists must consent to be being profiled in national student press and local Leeds media, including newspapers, magazines, radio, TV and online
  17. This competition is not open to employees of UNITE or their families, associated agents or anyone otherwise connected with this competition
