Grand Central is in a great city centre location minutes from the main shopping high street. With over 1,200 bedrooms, it is one of the largest student properties in the UK.
The property is close to both Liverpool John Moores University City and Mount Pleasant campuses, and the University of Liverpool.
Situated next to Lime Street station and Queens Square bus station, Grand Central is also ideal for Edge Hill, Liverpool Hope and LJMU IM Marsh campus via the city’s excellent transport links.
Grand Central offers a choice of classic or premium en-suite rooms within two-six bedroom cluster flats, as well as five bedroom shared bathroom flats and both classic and premium studios, for those who choose to live independently. All Grand Central studios have recently gone through a full refurbishment including new kitchen appliances, with full oven and hob installation and new flooring/fixtures and fittings.
As with all our student accommodation in Liverpool, we offer Wi-Fi, contents insurance and all bills included in the price, so there are no unexpected costs to worry about.

The popular student bar areas of Wood Street, Slater Street, Concert Square and Hardman Street are all less than 10 minutes’ walk from Grand Central and boast bars such as Baa Bar, Lloyds, Revolution, Walkabout Reflex, and Popworld amongst the local pubs and clubs such as The Philarmonic, The Flute and Bumper.
Grand Central is in an L3 city centre location, immediately next door to Lime Street station. Liverpool Church Street is two minutes’ walk away and is the main shopping high street.
Grand Central is also 10 minutes from both the Students’ Union on Maryland Street (LJMU) and Liverpool Guild of Students, Brownlow Hill (UoL) which host many student activities including society meetings and club nights.
Liverpool city centre, just minutes away, boasts a whole range of shopping and restaurants from St Johns Centre to the high end shopping stores in the Met Quarter and around Liverpool ONE.
Grand Central is 10 minutes from Liverpool city centre where there are a number of fantastic entertainment venues, including an Odeon IMAX cinema based at the Liverpool ONE shopping centre.
Liverpool Empire Theatre is located next to Liverpool Lime Street train station, just a few hundred metres from Grand Central. It has a large variety of concerts and stage productions at student-friendly prices.
The Royal Court Theatre, just next to Queen Square bus station, is also home to stage productions as well as regular comedy acts.
Liverpool Echo Arena is situated on the Kings Dock among beautiful dock buildings renovated into clubs, restaurants and shops. It plays host to a variety of sporting, music and comedy events.
There are many attractions based on arguably Liverpool’s most famous export, The Beatles. These include the Beatles Festival in August, plus attractions like The Cavern, The Beatles Story and Taxi Tours.
The Sports Centre of the University of Liverpool is less than 10 minutes’ walk away. There are also a number of ‘Lifestyles’ gyms locally - members can visit a number of gyms across the city with a single membership.
The nearest gym at Wavertree has an Olympic swimming pool and extensive playing fields. Everton Park Sports Centre has a swimming pool and outdoor football pitches for hire, and there is a Power League five-a-side football complex close by.
Liverpool and Everton football clubs are separated only by Stanley Park, less than three miles from the city centre. Liverpool play their games at Anfield stadium, and Everton play at Goodison Park. Both stadiums are just a short bus ride away and offer stadium tours as well as match day tickets.

Travel and transport
The main buses for the university campuses outside the city centre are the 75, 76 and 78. These run regularly and go from bus stops at Lime Street, Queen Square and nearby London Road. Grand Central’s great location means you can access most of the university facilities by foot.
The main Queen Square bus station is immediately opposite Grand Central, where you can catch a bus to take you anywhere in the city. There is also a National Express coach station on Norton Street, five minutes’ walk from Grand Central.
Liverpool Lime Street is the main train station for local and national rail services and is a gateway to the rest of the UK. Manchester and Chester are only an hour away and Blackpool is only 90 minutes on the train. There are train and admission deals available to attractions around the country such as Alton Towers and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Liverpool St Johns Centre is across the road from Grand Central and has a range of stores used regularly by our students, such as Aldi, Wilkinson’s, Boots, Superdrug, and Tesco. A larger ASDA is on Smithdown road, a short taxi or bus journey away.
The city has various shopping centres such as Liverpool One, the Met Quarter, and Clayton Square providing an excellent choice of shops including John Lewis, Debenhams, Top Shop, All Saints, and Next.
Lime Street and surrounding side streets have a number of newsagents, takeaway and restaurants including our partner Dominos.
Banks are situated on the main high street and also on the University of Liverpool campus.
The University of Liverpool Sydney Jones Library (for all subjects except Science and Engineering) and the Harold Cohen Library for Science and Engineering are both 10 minutes’ walk away.
The LJMU Aldham Robarts Library is on Maryland Street near the Students’ Union and is less than 10 minutes away. The LJMU Avril Robarts Library in the Marybone district is only a 10-minute walk. There is also the newly renovated Liverpool Central Library near Lime Street Station.
Grand Central’s proximity to both Liverpool university campuses means that it is close to the healthcare and welfare facilities provided by the universities. LJMU welfare services are located in the Marybone Area, less than 10 minutes’ walk from Grand Central, and the University of Liverpool welfare services on campus are also close by.
Student Health is based in the centre of UoL campus. All students can register here for healthcare. It is part of the Brownlow Group of surgeries, with other practices available around the city centre.
UoL Student Services for welfare advice are based on the other side of Student Health near the Guild of Students. LJMU welfare and advice centre is on Tithebarn street.
The Royal Liverpool University Hospital is situated on Prescot Street – just a few minutes’ walk away from Grand Central. There is also Great Charlotte Street Walk-in Centre near St Johns Centre in the city centre, which provides walk-in services for minor injuries and sexual health without appointment.
