The Plaza is just a few minutes’ walk from the Students’ Union. Located in the heart of Leeds, residents at The Plaza are just a few minutes’ walk away from some of the city’s most popular bars, pubs, and clubs.
Leeds boasts over 1,000 shops in a unique mix of stylish pedestrianised high streets, state-of-the-art shopping centres, Victorian arcades, historic buildings and yards, and Edwardian markets. Leeds city centre alone has upwards of 90 restaurants and cafés, 26 major hotels, four renowned theatres, 29 nightclubs, and over 180 pubs and bars.
Just five minutes down the road from The Plaza is a large Morrison’s supermarket, as well as a range of smaller food shops and takeaways. The high street is only a little further past the supermarkets.
Closer to home, The Plaza has its own convenience store with snacks, basic foods and newspapers. There is a supermarket opposite for larger shopping trips.
The new 13,500 capacity Leeds Arena is located across the road from the property. The venue will host some of the biggest names in music, comedy and theatre and students staying at The Plaza are lucky enough to have this fantastic new venue right on their doorstep.
The property is just five minutes’ walk from Leeds Metropolitan University and University of Leeds campus, meaning whatever you’re studying you’ll always be close to your department. Also, you’ll have great access to the many music and entertainment stars who visit the Student’s Union every year.
If you’re looking to relax after lectures or at the weekend, take a short bus ride to Roundhay Park in Leeds, which is one of the biggest city parks in Europe. It has over 700 acres of parkland, lakes, woodland and gardens. Here you can enjoy a spot of sunbathing in the summer, or sledging on the famous Hill 60 in the winter.
Getting Active
The Plaza has a fantastic gym built into the connect Sky Plaza B Block that is open from 6.30 am till 10.30 pm. Residents can access the gym with their room card. For safety reasons, an induction must be carried out prior to using the gym for a small one-off fee.
At both universities, you’ll find leading sports facilities for rugby, football, hockey, tennis and badminton amongst many others. These venues are generally available for students to use throughout the year, meaning you can always pop down for a quick game with your friends.
For fans of professional sports, the close proximity to Leeds United’s Elland Road football stadium means you can see the team play just a short bus ride away.
Rugby fans are spoilt for choice with both the Rugby League World Club Challenge winners; Leeds Rhinos and the Leeds Carnegie Rugby Union, both based at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. The tickets are great value, and the atmosphere is electric.

Travel and Transport
The Plaza is located on Clay Pit Lane, a stone’s throw from the city centre. With such a great location in the heart of the city, The Plaza students are close to the action, as well as having great transport links on their doorstep.
The properties are in the heart of Leeds city centre and are within walking distance from Leeds University campus. Should residents require it; there is a regular bus service - the number 96 - operating every few minutes, which travels to Headingley and popular student areas.
Leeds train station offers regular services to the rest of the UK and is a ten-minute walk from The Plaza.
Additionally, The Plaza is located adjacent to the A58 which connects to the A64, and is close to the M1. This makes The Plaza a great starting point for exploring more of the UK at weekends and during the holidays.
Local Essentials
Adjacent to The Plaza is NISA supermarket which stocks a wide range of goods and is open from 7 am till 12 midnight every day. For a wider range of items Morrison’s supermarket is a five-minute walk from the property and is open till 8 pm Monday to Friday. Further major supermarkets can be found within Leeds city centre.
The town centre, just a five-minute walk from the property, and is home to all the high street banks and shops that you’d expect in a popular university town.
Due to the fantastic location of The Plaza, the university library is within walking distance, so you don’t need to worry about carrying heavy books very far.
Just a 10-minute walk from The Plaza will get you to Leeds train station, giving you easy access to home, or to visit the surrounding cities.
Your Wellbeing
The Plaza students can walk to Leeds Student Medical Practice in around five minutes. It is located behind The Plaza and offers a wide range of services. Students have to register with the practice and we advise residents do this within the first week at university.
The universities offer welfare, financial and career advice to all its students and these can be found in various advice clinics across campus. The Plaza is in close proximity for both university campuses.
Aside from these facilities, Leeds General Infirmary hospital is located just a five-minute walk from The Plaza should emergency medical assistance be required.
