Glasgow is second only to London in the UK for shopping and Buchanan View is only a five-minute walk from the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre, which boasts stores such as John Lewis, River Island, Boots and many more.
Students staying at Buchanan View are close to the wide variety of pubs and restaurants that the city offers. You can visit many of the karaoke bars such as the Horseshoe Bar and enjoy the famous Glasgow hospitality or enjoy exotic cocktails at the Metropolitan Bar.
Glasgow has an abundance of restaurants to choose from. Visit Guys restaurant in the Merchant City area of Glasgow to experience the Glaswegian take on Tapas.
Living at Buchanan means you are never far away from the best entertainment Glasgow has to offer. Famous for its many music venues, the city is a great place to discover up and coming bands as well as the biggest names in music.
Buchanan View is just a short walk to the 18-screen Cineworld. If you prefer the stage to the screen, then you are surrounded by theatres and the famous Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
George Square - one of Glasgow’s most famous areas - is just a short walk away from the property, and is home to some of the city’s most historical buildings. Glasgow Green, one of the most stunning parks in the city, is within walking distance and provides a great location to make the most of the spring and summer months.
Glasgow is famous for its music scene, with a wide range of venues that are well worth visiting. From smaller venues such as King Tuts Wah Wah Hut (where Oasis were discovered) to larger venues like the S.E.C.C (Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre) where you can see international acts like Rihanna, there is something to suit all tastes.
Getting Active
Glasgow was host city for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and has seen massive transformation and investment in its sporting facilities, such as the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome which hosted cycling events at the games.
Buchanan View is close to The Arc Gym which is situated on Glasgow Caledonian Universities onsite campus. There are also a number of private gyms in the local area, such as Pure Gym or Virgin Active.
Other local facilities include outdoor football pitches just five minutes from Buchanan View.
The proximity to local university campuses means you haven’t got far to go to be involved in on campus sporting events. Check out the sports associations that you can join via your chosen university’s website.
Glaswegians are passionate about football and the city is home to three major stadiums. Hampden Park is the national football team’s stadium and is just 20-30 minutes from the city centre. Celtic Park (home to Glasgow Celtic Football Club) and Ibrox Stadium (home to Rangers Football Club) are a similar distance from the property.

Travel and Transport
Buchanan View is close to all transport links in Glasgow and is easily accessible by car, bus or train.  Glasgow’s train station is right in the heart of the city and has frequent services from various other cities across the UK. Glasgow’s Buchanan bus station, also located in the city centre, has frequent services connecting Glasgow with the rest of the UK. Glasgow also has a fast and reliable underground system.
The Glasgow underground system allows you to travel around various areas of the city in a short space of time. Buchanan View is situated close to two stations; Cowcaddens and Buchanan Street.
There are a number of local buses that operate within the city, as well as the surrounding areas. These buses all leave from the bus station and many have stops near to Buchanan View, making it a great place to explore the city from.
Local Essentials
Buchanan View is very close to amenities such as local shops and banks. There are several smaller supermarkets nearby, such as a Sainsbury’s Local just five minutes from the property. The nearest post office is just as close, although the staff at Buchanan View are happy to receive parcels on your behalf until you are there to collect them.
For more choice, a 24-hour Tesco is 15 minutes’ walk from Buchanan View, or just a few minutes by road.
The property’s great location means you can walk to many areas in less than 10 minutes, such as Sauchiehall Street which is home to many high street banks.
Glasgow Caledonian University and Strathclyde University have on-campus libraries for their students to use. Glasgow Caledonian University is just a few minutes’ walk, whilst Strathclyde University can be reached in less than 10 minutes.
Your Wellbeing
The nearest hospital to Buchanan View is the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. This is 10 minutes from Buchanan View and has a 24-hour Accident & Emergency department. You can also access GPs based in the health centre section at the hospital.
Should you need visit the hospital it is advised to use any of the local taxi services. The property team at Buchanan View will be happy to provide local taxi numbers.
You can register with many local dental practices or contact the Glasgow Dental Hospital which is situated on Sauchiehall Street and is 10 minutes away from Buchanan View.

Buchanan View is right in the centre of town – as one of the tallest buildings in the city it provides some great views of the Glasgow skyline.
It’s also really close to the shops and bars in Glasgow so you’ll never be far from the city's regular events and activities. Buchanan View is on the doorstep of Glasgow Caledonian University, and near to Strathclyde University and some of the further education colleges.
