Many of Bristol’s very best bars, restaurants and nightclubs can be found just a few-minutes’ walk from Nelson and Drake House. The property sits right at the heart of the city centre, with access to the bars and clubs of Baldwin Street, Corn Street and Park Street in less than five minutes.
Park Street and The Triangle (Queens Road) host dozens of bars, restaurants and clubs which hold student nights throughout the year. Park Street is just minutes from Nelson and Drake House, leading up towards The Triangle.
The Waterfront is home to many bars and restaurants including Pryzm (formerly Oceana), Pitcher and Piano, BSB, ZaZa Bazaar, Las Iguanas and Prezzo amongst others. Pryzm was recently the first Oceana in the UK to be given a full refurbishment and rebrand, and is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Nelson and Drake House.
The bars, clubs and takeaways of Baldwin Street and Corn Street are just five minutes from the property, as well as the many attractions that line the city centre fountains and harbour.
With Cabot Circus and Broadmead right on your doorstep, you are within 10 minutes’ walk of over 500 shops and restaurants. Cabot Circus is Bristol’s leading shopping venue, with over 120 retail stores,  including flagship stores for House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols and Primark.

The city benefits from numerous green expanses, perfect for picnics, sunbathing or recreational sport, including Castle Park in the city centre just two minutes from Cabot Circus. Castle Park also hosts numerous events throughout the year, including the popular festival Love Saves The Day.
The Clifton Downs are found at the top of Whiteladies Road and Blackboy Hill, close to the University of Bristol, and host a range of university sports clubs and local sports teams. Ashton Court is a country park with 850 acres of woodland and grassland, and is also home to local events such as the world famous Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.
Queen Square is a small city centre park framed by cobbled streets, found just off Baldwin Street and within five minutes’ walk of Nelson and Drake House.
Bristol is also well known for arts and music. Graffiti is a big part of the local art scene, giving rise to the notorious Banksy. Many works of Banksy can be found in five to ten-minutes’ walk from the property.

Getting Active
Nelson and Drake House is just 10 minutes’ walk from the University of Bristol, so all the sports and gym facilities of the campus are within easy reach. UWE’s campus facilities can be reached via the university bus which runs from just around the corner of the property.
The city centre location of Nelson and Drake House means you have access to a range of local gyms and sports clubs. Pure Gym (Harbourside), Fitness4Less and The Gym Bristol are all within 10 minutes’ walk of the property. There are numerous other gyms and facilities within walking distance of the property, to which the property team will be happy to direct you.
Sports fans can catch local teams in action, with Bristol City Football Club located in Ashton Gate just a short bus journey from the city centre, or a 30-minute walk. Bristol Rovers FC are found up the Glocester Road, whilst local Rugby and Cricket teams offer a great range of options. Bath is just 10 minutes away on the train, for further sports facilities and professional teams.

Travel and Transport
Bristol Temple Meads train station is just 15 minutes’ walk from Nelson and Drake House. The station provides easy access to cities across the UK such as, London, Birmingham and Manchester, as well as neighbouring Bath and Cheltenham.
Bristol’s coach station is situated on Marlborough Street, just five minutes’ walk from the property. Megabus operate a nationwide, cost-effective coach service from just outside Colston Hall on Colston Street, just a couple of minutes’ walk from Nelson and Drake House.
Bristol Airport is located just outside the city and can be easily accessed via hourly buses from the city centre, or a short taxi ride. The airport offers good value flights, particularly useful for European city breaks or internal flights to the north of England.
Local Essentials
Nelson and Drake House’s city centre location means you have a wealth of amenities in the local area. There is a Tesco Express just two minutes down the road, as well as many other shops, food outlets and conveniences stores. Several convenience stores in the local area offer postal services, should you need them.
A range of high street banks are available just five minutes’ walk away in the Broadmead shopping area. The Galleries shopping centre, less than five minutes’ walk from the property, has a large post office, plus useful stores such as Boots, Family Bargains and Wilkinsons.
Your Wellbeing
University of Bristol and UWE offer their students on-site medical care. Students can find details of how to make an appointment via their university website, although the team at Nelson and Drake House will be happy to point you in the right direction.
The University of Bristol can be reached in around 10 minutes from the property, and UWE’s campuses can be reached in around 20 minutes on the university bus services.
Aside from campus facilities, the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) can be reached in a 10-minute walk. The BRI is a teaching hospital and has close links with the University of Bristol, offering experience to many local medical students.
